Introduction to Service Dogs
6 weeks – 90 min each first two classes, 60 min classes weeks 3- 6 (handlers attend without dogs first week) $85.00
You and your dog must have completed Attention at Heel class and be pre approved by the trainer. This class is for people who: would like their dogs to help them around the house more by performing tasks; are considering raising a puppy for a service/guide dog program; are interested in what service dogs do as well as people who think they might like to train their dogs to be full (public access) service dogs!
We will cover:
- ADA definition of Service Dogs
- Minimum Training Standards
- Public Access Testing
- List of Service Dog Tasks
We will work on:
- Public access Foundation Behaviors (leave it & stay)
- Practice Public Access Testing
- Task Lists
- Beginning task training
