Doreen BARREN
Doreen was a born animal lover. She had many different pets in her youth and her family was rarely without one or more dogs. She got her first horse at the age of 14 and trained a weanling colt at 17.
Through collage and during her 30 years as a High School Physics and Math teacher, there was no time for a dog in her life However, when she retired she got a Border Collie pup that would change her life. Taz proved to be very special. Doreen's original goal was to play agility but as time went on she and Taz learned obedience, rally and tracking. Her training knowledge has come from taking classes and going to seminars with some of the top trainers in these fields.
Together Doreen and Taz have competed in AKC, UKC, USDAA, CPE, APDT, & C-WAGS. Doreen is now a C-WAGS Rally and Obedience judge. Doreen considers their crowning achievement to be the AKC Tracking Champion title earned in 2006, Ohio's 1st CT, and the subsequent participation in the 4th National Tracking Invitational in 2009. Taz did a wonderful job on his track and was marked Pass by the judges. This was a very special honor.
Doreen instructs tracking and C-WAGS obedience at Fortunate Fido.
